Los Angeles > Sydney QF12

2024/10/12 | Travel

Waking up about 3- 4 hours out from Sydney, and according to the flight map, not far from Vanuatu, so we are tracking a lot further north on this QF12 flight, usually we track a bit closer to Fijirandom lonely dark cloud so we should be close to Port Vila, but am not seeing anything there we go, one of Vanuatu Isalnds, Ambrym Little line you can just make out is Ulei Airport, and what looks like a very old volcano, if those clouds weren’t there, we would see 2 more volcanoes that appear to be not as dormant Paama &  Halos Island which has Lopevi Volcano, activeall three, Halos, Paama & Ambrym Lopevi volcano under those clouds Epi Island and what looks like to me some very potential surf breaks all along the coastline then the West side of Epi, with another old dormant volcano clearly visible and surf breaks ? now another 700 odd km before we reach New Caledonia and there it is, New Caledonia reef quite a distance of the main land woauw, looks pretty untouched from up here Ouegoa, New Caledonia look like 2 dormant volcanoes near Koumac and just of the beaches of Koumac … big, deep lagoon and then, potentially world class surf breaks woauw that just looks insane, you could be forgiven for thinking that’s the passage near cloud break this so needs further investigation ( Nathan Florence ?? ) I see lefts, and with the tradewinds, this would generally be offshore most of the time mission who;s going to help me make this happen impossible that there isn’t something surfable down there now about 1800 kilometers or so to go  about 2-3 hours later, Australias East Coast That looks like Seal Rocks in the middle Stockton sand dunes, Anna Bay and Nelson Bay love Anna BAy and it’s 40 kms of sand dunes seat with a view Stockton Sand dunes going down Central Coast Northern Beaches Manly to Palm Beach, home we’re not alone, off Bondi Beach Bondi Beach Entrance to Sydney harbour love this shot, all of the eastern suburb beaches and northern beaches at the top Coogee Sydney City great shot Bankstown airport Era Beach seat with a view coming in to land, Kurnell 2 runways in operation
