How’s that for timing, call A.M. from the airport, she’s like quick , come to my place drop your bags where going to the Volcom christmas party, wicked straight get to hook up with some familiar faces, this is me and Tamati, he’s quick a few years younger than me ( he makes up for it in height) and we used to surf a lot together at North Narrabeen, he tells me he just came fourth in a surf comp last week , and waves were big then. Tamati has had a bit of a rough ride in his life, when and where we grew up, there was still quite a bit of racism going on , and see-ing Tamati wasn’t white he got the nickname down at the beach of donkey boy, which when you think of it now was a pretty low thing to do, and I also called him that at the time ( back in the early 80’s) not realising the negative effect that had on him, hey , it was just a nickname I thought, not realising it was belittling Tamati, so sorry dude for being a racist prick to you back then.Tamati took it on the chin, and came through a stronger person for it, and I dare say that the majority of guys that called him that are now just a pathetic bunch, anyway, enough of that, back to the party
