off the plane and I head to Kálfatjörn super windy, low tide and a smelly beach with all the seaweed sitting in the sunlooks calm, but I got blown down the rock wall as seen from the plane, and now from the road After driving past Reykjavik city center, I keep heading north east on the Nesjavallavegurand yes, thermal activity dots the landscape Þingvallavatn lake nice viewing spot of the lake ( those clouds !! ) cute little church on the lakeÚlfljótsvatnskirkja after a small 2 hour drive I arrive at my hotel for the night, and old school turned into a hotel, Héraðsskólinn Historic Guesthouse on Laugarvatn lakethe old school, now hotel I go for an evening stroll after dinner ( does not get dark till about 1:30, well sunset at 01:30, but dark, not sure when that will be ) and right on the lake waterfront, thermal activity, bubbling awaynext to the thermal pool, which I did not partake in, will save that for when I come back with Jacqui and the locals bake bread in a pot in mounds dug out over / near the thermal activity just boiling away the old school, so downstairs was all classrooms and a kitchen and upstairs the dormitory view from my room looking south, well past midnight can just see the beams of sun rays can’t remember what time this was, like 3 am or so waking up in the morning, same view, with Katla in the distance I believe driving out of Laugarvatn and on side of the road I could see some waterfalls, so I turn for a closer look there are so many waterfalls, google has not bothered to give a name to all these waterfalls and these pretty flowers are everywhere, like everywhere, so them all along my drive from the airport yesterday, and everywhere today pretty like, everywhere and I thought these red flowers on the pine trees were interesting had not seen these before these brown one yes now to a more serious waterfall Brúarfoss so pretty and I love all the blues, effervescence  and can still see last remnants of snow in the hills behind Hvita river clear, but icy cold now onto another more serious waterfall Urriðafoss and as you can see, a great spot for fishing for salmon as well Urriðafoss (Icelandic pronunciation: [ˈʏrːɪːðaˌfɔsː], “sea trout waterfall”) is a waterfall located in the river Þjórsá in southwest Iceland. With a flow rate of 360 m³/s, it has the highest average water flow of any waterfall in Iceland, and the second highest in Europe behind the Rheinfall.[1 and a little side waterfall to add to it tried to get close, but they were very skittish and they are smaller than the lambs I’m used to insert sound love the colours I see a lot of these horses along the road so just had to stop at one of them and take some photos they are a little smaller with a lot of mane I ended up feeding some of the long grass growing out of their reach they loved it Þórðarfoss Gluggafoss (Merkjárfoss) Þórðarfoss seen from MerkjárfossI decided to walk up this one looking across the river at Eyjafjöll this waterfall is a great visit, as you walk up there are many other sections to this waterfall so prettythe road I will take back to the coast when I get back down not many people around mini rainbow pretty this would all be snow most of the year, really blessed with the weather too, not many blue sky days all day, as apparently you can get 4 seasons in one day usually, and it has been just blue sky all day be great to stay on this ” barn ” and go hiking little knoll along the road looking back another waterfall in the distance much bigger, decided a little detour to take a closer look nice but as opposed to the other waterfalls, this one was very busy and car park was busy too and I have to get to the airport

On my way to New York, I had some spare time before I need to be in the big apple, so an opportunity came up to do a 27 hour layover in Iceland
