After the Tropical institute it’s off to the old location of the fashion academy to the ..Academy, this is where all the greats have concluded their studies, but as Ann Demeulemeester pointed out to me, this place was different from the current location of the academy ,as there was so much more going on here besides fashion, as it is the Academy of the arts, so there would be painters, sculptors etc.. mixing with the fashion students as well ( sounds a lot more creative to me ) And Anne Chapelle points out that this Academy has been here for centuries, where such greats as Reuben’s, Breughel and Van Eyck have walked these paths and learned their skills, I add to those names and Reubens, Demeulemeester ….which embarrassed Ann a bit and was quick to say no, but then Chapelle adds, don’t forget Dries Van Noten, true that
You can feel the history, and Ann points to this building and says that’s the building where they used to the graduating shows, before it moved to the handelsbeurs and now to the waagnatie. She adds that back then they were the models and did their own make up, for one show, the bridal outfit, Martin Margiela played the part of her groom
Inside , we listen tentatively to Ek’s presentation
He gives us a great explanation for his collection called "LOV3"
Ek explains his idea came from the relationship between man and woman, the first feelings of love, the colours associated with that, blue for man, yellow for woman, mix the two you get purple , but then what happens after love when a relationship breaks down, so he decided to break down the clothes as well, so he is left with the shell and the colur grey
I’m impressed, but then , I was expecting to be impressed as well
