Truck Vs Railway network

Remind me again as to why we should have trucks on the highways, barreling down the highways at 100kms an hour ( that’s if they stick to the speed limit ) , oh, transport goods you say, well why did we build railways back in the 1800’s , to transport goods and cargo, sure it takes longer, but at least one of your relatives or friends won’t end up with their car like this
