Brisbane > Rockhampton QF1796
Job done in Brisbane so next morning off to Rockhampton
wonder what they are talking about, cracking a joke ? no, body language too serious
nice clear day for an airplane flight
getting instructions
missed the wave, bugger
ready to taxi
ready to take off
end of the port of Brisbane and Mud Island
the gap between Moreton and North Stradbroke Islands
Tangalooma on the left, the village of Moreton Island and then the sand dunes on the right they called Moreton Island desert
loving these what look like drifting sand banks
so pretty, shifting sands in the tidal movements over time, impermanence
Bulwer & Comboyuro Point
must be tricky navigating big boats through the maze of drifting shallow sand banks
looks pretty though
edge of the shallow sand banks and deep water
looks like the spot to fish
tracking all along the sunshine coast, on the left hand side, so I did not see it, and we cross back over land at Cooloola Beach just north of Noosa ( left hand side should have a great view of noosa right now )
It's a very long beach, about 50 kms of pure white sand, all the way up to Double Island point
Cooloola beach, Great Sandy National Park, Rainbow Beach and then the great Fraser Island
Fraser Island and Sandy straight exiting at Inskip into the Coral sea
Double Island Point again, I'm fascinated with this place, as in the right conditions it has an amazing long right hand wave breaking along that sand bank, a bit of a gap in the sand bank at the moment
Fraser Island
Another look at Double Bay Island, accessible only by a decked out 4WD, or boat from Rainbow beach
Inskip
Fraser Island
Poona, Tinnanbar and then Fraser Island
Poona, a very calm day, no wind, so loving the reflection of the clouds just of Fraser Island in the Sandy Straight
Hervey Bay
Maryborough and Mary River
Hervey Bay and Fraser Island
Burrum Heads and Hervey bay, and the north tip of Fraser Island
Bundaberg
1770 and Agnes Waters
Eurimbula
looking back again at 1770, another great surf spot, that works only a few times of the year, nice long sand bank
here's a screen shot of overhead satellite photo, so you can see what I mean
Hummock Island
Gladstone and Facing Island
Facing Island, and you can just make out the Coral Reefs part of the Heron chain of Islands including Heron Island ( just out of frame )
Facing Island, Alumina Residu plant on Byne Island, Tannum sands, Boyne River, Awoonga Dam and Taragoola Quarry
Boats of Facing Island and now I can just make out Heron Island
The city of Gladstone, I can just make out the airport
Yarwun Alumina, Mt Larcom and Curtis Island
Balaclava Island
Raglan Creek Balaclava Island
Inkerman Creek and Port Alma
Port Alma Salt evaporation
Fitzroy River entering the Coral Sea
Obstruction Island, Egg Island, Sandfly Island, Mud Island and Mackenzie Island, all in the mouth of the mighty Fitzroy River
Great Keppel Islands off the coast of Yeppoon
The ugly Zilzie housing estate many a realtor tried to tell me to buy in, look at it, even from up here it looks soul less and built on swamp land, needless to say, I did not speak with any of those real estate people anymore
Zilzie, Emu Park, Kinka, Roslyn all suburbs of Yeppoon
Mt Wheeler
oh my, finally get to Surf Lakes
I've been wanting to check out this mew wave pool, seen many videos
but not open to the public yet, still in testing phase ( I think that's 4 years of testing now ) you can see how it is just of Yeppoon road, which takes you from Rockhampton top Yeppoon, so pretty close to both cities
Hedlow Creek Lake Mary
mighty Fitzroy River
coming in to land
I prefer my river with clear water
but I do love the colour from up here of the Fitzroy
landed, spot the croc
fligth track from the flight
