Beer and band T-shirts, what a great combination. The talk of the town right now is this new brewery tucked away at 76 Wilford Street in Newtown – Young Henrys. Walking past a few Graffiti covered lane-ways you can smell the sweet aromas of beer brewing. For part three of my collaboration with MARCS and ARIA, I sneaked into the brewery to meet Oscar, “Gentleman-at-Large and Brewer”. On the portraits, he’s wearing the Bliss N Eso band T-shirt by MARCS.
Oscar, do you remember your first band T-shirt?
– Yes, it was the classic Guns ‘n’ Roses T-shirt! An x-girlfriend stole it from me.
What do you prefer, a live band or a DJ?
– Definitely a live band. Live music is incredibly important to me. I just saw Little Bastard live at the Corridor Bar. It was great.
What’s your favourite Australian band?
– That would be Radio Birdman.
What makes a great band T-shirt?
– Simple: The band has to be good.
What’s your favourite song?
– There is always music playing here at the brewery, listen now (Oscar reaches for his iPod and Gimme Shelter by the Rolling Stones belts out of the speakers).
Visit the brewery and taste the goodies. You’ll find Young Henrys at 76 Wilford Street, Newtown, Sydney.
This project is a collaboration with iconic Australian fashion brand MARCS and ARIA (Australian Record Industry Association). MARCS has launched five limited edition band t-shirts, all designed to support the #UnitedByMusic campaign. Let’s support our home grown Aussie music!
