A big, strong and bearded man. No, I’m not referring to yours truly but Dan, a music lover I bumped into the other day. For part four of my collaboration with MARCS and ARIA, I portrayed Dan, in The Presets T-shirt by MARCS.
Dan, do you remember your first band T-shirt?
– Yes, it was from Tumbleweed, but I lost it somewhere along the way. T-shirts are like umbrellas; you never really own them because they’re meant to get lost one way or another.
What do you prefer, live band or DJ?
– I love my live music and try to see a lot. Most recent acts seen are Spiderbait at the Laneway, with Big Village & the Little Bastard. I’ve seen ARIA nominee The Rubens about five times and each time they’ve rocked it. I frequently go to new venue Jam Gallery, Bondi Junction, with my wife. We also try to go to as many festivals as we can. Splendor, amongst others.
What’s your favourite ever Australian album?
– 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 by Midnight Oil. (Ed. note ; one of my favourites from this album is short memory.)
And favourite ever track?
– Alive by Pearl Jam pops in my head all the time.
What makes a good band t-shirt?
– I really liked Dave Matthews, they make great T-shirts. Simple design and good graphics. I also like when the tour dates are printed on the back, that’s something to always relate to.
