_AUS4980sonnyThe Darling River flood plains just outside of Wilcannia, are wet again ( they been dry for a long time ) _AUS4986sonnyWater on both sides of the road. _AUS4991sonnyWilcannia was once a thriving river port town, boats would service the town, transporting all the wool and later, after Opal was discovered at nearby White Cliffs, it expanded yet again. Boats played a major role in the develepment and growth of this town, and so it was that the era of cars brought on its slow demise, and to me it looked like it was on the verge of becoming a ghost town _AUS4995sonnyMain street. Originally, looking at the map, I choose this as one of the possible pit stop towns on the way up, but that changed as soon as Jacqui had a look at my list, as she knew a bit more about the history of this town 🙂
So off to nearby White Cliffs
